Changes in the Board of Directors and Management of EKE Group
The Board of Directors of EKE-Finance Ltd. changed on 14 August 2024. Matti Vikkula, M.Sc. (Econ), was elected as the new Chairman. Tea Ekengren, Riitta Ekengren, Carl Saurén M.Sc. (Econ), and Jon Ekengren will continue as members, and Kimmo Metso and Mika Taberman have been elected as new members.
The Boards of Directors of EKE-Finance Ltd and EKE-Construction Ltd have appointed new CEOs effective 9 September 2024. CFO Antti Tikkanen has been appointed Acting CEO of EKE-Finance Ltd, and Business Director Miikka Huhtamäki has been appointed Acting CEO of EKE-Construction Ltd. The previous CEOs of the companies, Riitta Ekengren and Tea Ekengren, will continue to serve on the boards of EKE Group companies.
EKE-Finance
Matti Vikkula has been CEO of Biokraft International AB since 2011. His previous roles include partner at PwC Management Consulting, CEO of Saunalahti, a listed telecommunication company, and member of the management team of Elisa in Finland. He is also the Chairman of Origin by Ocean and Kristina Cruises Oy and a board member of Loihde Oyj, which is listed on Nasdaq First North.
Antti Tikkanen has held various positions at EKE-Finance Ltd. since 2003, most of them as the Group's CFO. He has long played an essential role in managing the Group's different businesses and ensuring their success. He will also continue as Chairman of the Board of EKE-Electronics Ltd., to which he was appointed when Mitsubishi Electric Corporation became a shareholder in the summer of 2020.
Riitta Ekengren has been CEO of EKE-Finance Ltd. since 2008. During this time, EKE has been modified into its current form, a group focused on two main activities. Riitta has been actively involved in developing the Group's international operations.
Tea Ekengren has been the Chairman of EKE-Finance Ltd. since 2010. Established in 1961, the family-owned diversified group of companies today focuses on development, construction contracting, and train control and management systems. The board, comprising three generations of the family, has today expanded to include external experts and family members involved in the company's operative business.
EKE-Construction
M.Sc. (Tech) Miikka Huhtamäki joined EKE in 2019 and has been the Business Director responsible for production at EKE-Construction Ltd. since 2021. Miikka has a strong background in production management and residential construction, and he and the management team are highly skilled in developing and refining projects that align with the company's strategy.
Tea Ekengren will continue as Chairman of the Board of EKE-Construction Ltd. Tea has been Chairman of the Board and periodically also CEO of EKE-Construction since 2010. As a result of focused development work, the company has a firm plan for more than 500,000 floor square metres of business and residential buildings on the land plots it has acquired in due course. The company's land portfolio has also been supplemented with new prospective development sites.
