SRE selects EKE for mass rapid transit train overhaul
Singapore Rail Engineering (SRE), a subsidiary of SMRT Corporation Ltd, will overhaul two models of heavy rail trains used on Singapore’s North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL). These are the Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151 and Siemens C651 heavy rail trains, which are the first two types of trains that entered service on the NSEWL. The project involves overhauling SMRT’s fleet of 66 C151 trains (each with six cars, for a total of 396 cars) and 19 C651 trains (each with six cars for a total of 114 cars).
SRE selected EKE to provide a modernised Train Control and Management System (TCMS), Event Recorders with Rugged Memory Module (RMM), Displays and a Remote Fleet Management System.
